As a second test, I removed the game again, disconnected my internetconnection, deactivated my antivirus and reinstalled the game. As a test, I deleted the game completely, downloaded it from the Uplay server, reinstalled it and verified the files: no improvement. EDIT: Just out of curiosity, you don't have the Steam mouse icon by your username, which would indicate ownership of the game through Steam, and it's not in your list of games so why is it installed in a Steam directory?
